Ibenegbu eyes Beach Soccer WCup spot

Ikechukwu Ibenegbu has expressed his confidence to supersport.com that Nigeria's Super Sand Eagles will win a place at the Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup in Portugal this year.
Nigeria failed to qualify for the last edition of the Beach Soccer World Cup in Tahiti two years ago after Senegal dumped them in the semis of the Caf tournament in El Jadida, Morocco 9-8.
That loss opened the way for Senegal to join Ivory Coast as African qualifiers for the World Cup, and now Ibenegbu believes it is a different ball game.
The Warri Wolves midfielder does not believe that the Ivorians drawn in same group with them, alongside Seychelles and Egypt, would pose problems.
Ibenegbu, also known as Mosquito, is unperturbed by the fact that the Ivorians have defeated them in their last two meetings by similar scoreline of 5-4 in the group stage of the 2013 Caf Beach Soccer Championship and the 2014 Copa Lagos.
"Our first target is to qualify for the World Cup in Portugal. Then the next will be to win the trophy [in Seychelles].
"No we do not fear any opponent including Ivory Coast. This is because we have what it takes to defeat them," said the Warri Wolves to supersport.com.
Nigeria start off their quest for a third African title on the sand against hosts Seychelles at the Roche Caiman Sports Complex on Tuesday.
On Wednesday the Sand Eagles face Egypt and then round off their group stage game against Ivory Coast on April 16.
