Polokwane City midfielder Sipho Jembula has expressed that they need to be more careful when they visit AmaZulu on Wednesday for their Absa Premiership encounter at the Princess Magogo stadium.
Kick off at 7:30pm
AmaZulu saw their unbeaten streak cut to five league games when they lost 1-0 to Kaizer Chiefs last week.
Jembula said the fact that AmaZulu are sitting at the bottom of the league makes them more dangerous because they will be playing for the full points.
“Honestly, it is going to be one of the toughest matches, especially since AmaZulu is fighting to move out of the relegation zone. Apart from that I think their Kaizer Chiefs defeat will make them more dangerous,” said Jembula.
Polokwane played to just their third home draw of the season when they were held 1-1 by Bidvest Wits in their last outing.
The Limpopo side has claimed 15 points from 12 away matches this season.
Jembula said this is their chance to make sure that they collect the three points and make sure that they maintain their top eight spot.
“Our goal this season is to make sure that we finish in the top eight. As you know we have been regarded as a small team, but I think we have done well and we must just continue working hard and maintaining at the top,” added Jembula.
Usuthu has claimed 10 points from 11 home matches this season and captain Robyn Johannes said they will continue to fight for the three points.
“We are talking one language and that is to get the maximum points. They are playing a very good game and so we need to be more careful and make sure that we use our opportunities,” said Johannes.
With AmaZulu being placed 16th on the Absa Premiership log with 20 points from 25 matches the captain said they need to use the home ground advantage.
“Having the fans behind us will give us an edge. The players are committed and they are all willing to bounce back after the Kaizer Chiefs match,” added Johannes.
In head-to-head stats, AmaZulu and Polokwane have met in three league matches since 2013/14.
When the teams met earlier this season in Polokwane they played to an entertaining 2-2 draw, but Johannes said a draw will not be enough this time.
“A draw this time will not be enough, we need the three points and this match could see us moving out of the relegation zone,” concluded the AmaZulu captain.
